Recognizing when to use TIPI

When unwanted emotions regularly arise while facing a fear

• Fear of the dark, water, heights, speed…
• Fear of driving, flying, trains, boats…
• Fear of being in small or enclosed places, fear of crowds, or leaving the house…
• Fear of dogs, mice, snakes, spiders, insects…
• Fear of dirt or becoming contaminated…
• Fear of dying or of loosing control of one’s self…
• Etc.

When our emotions lead to unwanted behavior

• Panic, stress or anxiety in response to situations that seem harmless or irrelevant…
• Loss of focus or self-control in professional contexts (e.g. during public speaking, taking an exam, or competitive sports)…
• Avoidance of interpersonal relationships (e.g. meeting new people, developing intimacy)…
• When the slightest annoyance leads to temper, anger or violence…
• Etc.
